Deze prachtige Britse Daimler dateert uit 1899 en staat in het National Motor Museum in Beaulieu, Engeland. Hij rijdt nog ieder jaar de traditionele rit van London naar Brighton op de eerste zondag van November, meestal in handen van Lord Montague of Beaulieu zelf. Het Britse Daimler werd actief in 1896 doordat F.R. Simms de motorpatenten van Gottlieb Daimler in Engeland exploiteerde. Daimler zelf was directeur van de firma tot 1898, waarna de beide Daimler-bedrijven hun eigen weg gingen. De Duitse Daimler is vanaf 1900 beter bekend onder de naam Mercedes. De auto op de foto heeft een 4 cilinder motor van 3054 cc en levert 12 PK. |
This beautiful british Daimler is from 1899 and can be seen at the National Motor Museum in Beaulieu, England. It still participates in the traditional London-Brighton Rally on the first sunday in november, mostly driven by Lord Montague of Beaulieu himself. The British Daimler started in 1896 when F.R. Simms exploited the motor-licences of Gottlieb Daimler in England. Daimler himself was manager of the firm until 1898, after which both Daimler-companies split up to go their own way. Since 1900 the German Daimler is better known as Mercedes. The car in the picture has a 4 cylinder engine of 3054 cc and produces 12 HP. |
