Between Wars:

Toch greep men naast de overwinning in 1910. There once was a second successful Peugeot company. When the Peugeot we know (founded by Armand Peugeot) dropped the Bébé model around 1905, the son (Robert) of the brother (Eugène) of Armand Peugeot, founded the Lion-Peugeot company in 1906. He used the former Peugeot factory in Beaulieu-Valentigney. He specialized in 1 cilinder engined voiturettes. Lion-Peugeot too knew the importance of racing and in 1909 they won the Coupe des Voiturettes race. Due to some strange rules, some weird machines saw the light of day, the most bizarre of which was the VX5. It was equipped with a V2 engine, dimensions were 80 x 280 mm, developing 95 HP. Yet, they did not manage to win the 1910 event. Around that time, the big Peugeot found it time to take over Lion-Peugeot, and so they did. Lion-Peugeot cars were made upto 1915. The car in the picture is a 1909 model VC1, built in 1909, equipped with a 1 cylinder engine of 1,045 cc (110 x 110 mm) developing 9 HP, collection Mulhouse.
